Dr. Adam Hoverman
Family Medicine Physician with the Wellington Medical Clinic and co-lead for Social Prescribing at the Nanaimo Division of Family Practice
Dr. Adam Hoverman is a Family Medicine Physician with the Wellington Medical Clinic and co-lead for Social Prescribing at the Nanaimo Division of Family Practice. He completed Family Medicine Residency at the University of Minnesota, and Preventive Medicine Residency with a Masters in Public Health in Health Management and Policy from the OHSU-PSU School of Public Health.
Adam’s present academic posts include Clinical Instructor roles with the University of British Columbia Faculty of Medicine and the Department of Health Systems and Population Health at the University of Washington’s School of Public Health. He is previous Director of the Office of Global Health in the Department of Family Medicine at Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences.
Founded on a Diploma of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, Adam’s research encompasses health worker capacitation, community participation for maternal and child health, and the role of group medical visits in achieving the quadruple aim. Following in the footsteps of Clyde Hertzman’s biological embedding and social causation of disease and ill-health, Adam’s efforts focus on the co-design, co-creation, and co-production of health and social care for individual & population health improvement.
